She succeeds Scott Dickinson, who retires after more than 40 years in financial services
Standard Chartered has appointed Michelle Swanepoel as Head of Financing and Securities Services for the Middle East and Africa, effective 1 July 2026. Based in Dubai, she succeeds Scott Dickinson, who retires on 30 June.
Swanepoel joined Standard Chartered in 2017 as Regional Head of Business Account Management for the Middle East and Africa. She became Regional Head of Securities Services for Africa in 2019, and in 2024 took on the additional role of Head of Markets for South Africa.
“Michelle has played a strong leadership role in the evolution of post trade servicing across Sub-Saharan Africa, supporting capital market development, regulatory reform, enhanced investor access and market infrastructure,” said Margaret Harwood-Jones, Global Head of FSS.
Dickinson led the bank’s FSS franchise in the region since 2019, overseeing expansion into Saudi Arabia and Egypt and delivering Standard Chartered’s first Digital Asset Custody capability in the Dubai International Financial Centre.
“Our business across the Middle East and Africa presents a significant opportunity for us to support our clients by offering them innovative products across our markets,” said Swanepoel.
