The Amazon Pay executive will take over from K Chandrasekhar in a phased handover running through May 2027
CSB Bank’s board has approved the appointment of D Lakshmi Narayanan as Head of Operations, effective June 18, 2026, the Kerala-based lender disclosed in a regulatory filing.
Narayanan currently serves as Head of India Payment Operations at Amazon Pay, where he oversees a business processing more than 600 million transactions annually and managing over $50 billion in settlements. He brings more than 26 years of experience across India, the Middle East and Africa, spanning consumer banking, digital payments, credit cards, lending, wealth management, compliance and digital transformation.
Earlier in his career, Narayanan held senior roles at Citibank, including Head of Retail Operations India, where he led teams of more than 800 across cards, lending, liabilities, wealth management and compliance. He has also held leadership positions at Standard Chartered, Daimler Financial Services and ICICI Bank.
The incumbent, K Chandrasekhar, will continue as Head of Operations until his current term ends on May 31, 2027, with the bank describing the overlap as designed to ensure a smooth, phased transition of responsibilities.
