Citi has hired Rohan Sen from Bank of America to lead its coverage of the technology services sector, the latest move in a push to deepen its technology banking ranks, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters.
Global co-heads of technology investment banking Pankaj Goel and Mark Keene called technology services a “highly strategic” focus area and described Sen’s hire as an important milestone in Citi’s drive to expand the franchise.
Sen joins after 11 years at Bank of America, where he was a managing director in technology investment banking in New York. He’ll be based in New York and report to Goel and Keene.
“Rohan’s appointment is an important milestone in our ongoing strategy to expand our global Technology Banking franchise of which Technology service is a highly strategic focus area globally,” Goel and Keene wrote.
A Citi spokesperson confirmed the memo. Bank of America declined to comment.
The hire caps a busy stretch. In July, Citi recruited five managing directors from Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase and UBS: Chris Grosse, Florian Plath, Dhruv Fotadar, Anand Agarwal and Josh Sheets. This year it also brought in Anand Govind, former CFO of software company o9 Solutions, as a managing director.
The expansion follows the 2025 hiring of veteran JPMorgan banker Pankaj Goel as co-head alongside Keene, part of a broader effort to win a larger share of technology advisory work.
The Herald View: Citi is buying a franchise one banker at a time. Poaching a senior technology dealmaker from a rival is routine; doing it repeatedly across Bank of America, JPMorgan and UBS in a single summer is a strategy. The bet is that in technology M&A, relationships walk out the door with the people, and Citi is willing to pay to be the door they walk into.
