A direct link to a tier-1 US institution gives Thunes’ global network access to ACH, Same-Day ACH and real-time payment rails through a single API
Thunes has launched real-time payment capabilities into the United States, giving members of its Direct Global Network the ability to send USD payments through ACH, Same-Day ACH and real-time rails directly, rather than through intermediary banks.
The launch is built on a direct connection to a tier-1 US financial institution, supported by Thunes’ own portfolio of 50 Money Transmission Licenses across US states and territories. That licensing footprint allows Thunes to connect directly to local clearing systems rather than relying on multi-tiered correspondent banking arrangements, which the company says reduces latency, cuts transaction costs and lowers the risk of payment rejection.
The US connection extends Thunes’ existing network, which spans 140 countries, 90 currencies and more than 12 billion mobile wallet, stablecoin wallet and bank account endpoints. Members include gig economy platforms, money transfer operators, payment service providers, banks and neobanks.
“USD payments into the US have historically been sluggish, opaque, and heavily burdened by fees associated with cross-border money movement, particularly for businesses,” said Chloé Mayenobe, Deputy CEO of Thunes. “We are addressing a multi-trillion-dollar market gap.”
Ximena Azcuy, Head of Network for the Americas at Thunes, said the direct integration gives international businesses “the ultimate competitive edge” whether they require batch ACH processing or real-time settlement.
The move positions Thunes to compete more directly with established correspondent banking networks for inbound USD flows, an area where speed and cost have traditionally lagged behind domestic US payment rails.
